Why less is more in fitness.

We’ve all scrolled through social media and seen our fair share of fitness influencers showing everything they do for their fitness:
Long workouts 5 or 6 days a week
Extra workouts
Prepping every meal
9 hours of sleep every night
Cupboard full of supplements
Ice baths
Saunas
And everything else under the sun
I’ll admit—I’m guilty of this too! I do quite a bit fitness-wise. But here’s the thing: I don’t have kids, and I work 100% from my phone or laptop anywhere with Wi-Fi. My situation is very different from most of the people I work with. On top of that, I enjoy all of this. Fitness is a huge part of my life and I look forward to it. Most people aren’t in that same headspace—and there’s nothing wrong with that at all.
That’s why we need to focus on doing less consistently instead of trying to do everything inconsistently.
Many times, when I tell someone who hires me that we’ll start with three 30-minute workouts per week, their first reaction is, “That’s not nearly enough.” But the truth is, three short workouts every single week beats the hell out of five long workouts for four weeks… followed by quitting.
It’s the same with nutrition. Fixing one meal slowly and consistently is far more effective than going cold turkey on an ultra-restrictive diet—only to burn out and quit a month later.
Consistency always wins.
I like to look at fitness the same way I look at investing. Sure, we could dump all our chips into some Ponzi scheme or hope and pray that a random memecoin will 1,000x overnight—only to be disappointed 99.9% of the time.
Or… we could consistently set aside money every single month for a long time. That’s how tried-and-true investing works—it always wins in the long run. And fitness is the same. Slow, steady progress will always beat short-term bursts and quick fixes. Every single time.
